‘Gouache, the art of painting in opaque watercolour, has a particularly special place within the jewellery industry. It has been employed for centuries by jewellery designers and showcases a point where the merging of traditional artistry and fine jewellery design begins. Also known as ‘rendering,’ this art form reflects the artistic vision of a designer and serves as a guideline for the craftsmen who physically create the jewels.’ - Katerina Perez

Ever since I was small, I have loved to paint. I discovered traditional jewellery illustration during my jewellery manufacture apprenticeship and it felt like everything clicked into place. For me, jewellery is a complete narrative and the illustration is the beginning of the story.

An original hand-drawn jewellery illustration begins as a creative vision, where intricate designs and unique details are brought to life on paper. These illustrations capture the essence of artistry, blending shapes, textures, and patterns into a visual masterpiece. When translated into wearable art, the design is meticulously crafted using high-quality materials, ensuring that every detail remains intact and functional. The result is a stunning piece of jewellery that is not only beautiful but also a true reflection of the artist's creativity, allowing you to wear a unique, personal work of art.
